Educator Preview: Design Thinking

Wednesday, September 22 | 3 pm

Before signing their class up for a virtual experience, educators can take part in this Wednesday afternoon preview session where they will be able to meet Discovery Center staff, ask questions and watch a program demonstration. Each preview workshop qualifies for one Washington State Clock Hour. Design Thinking is open for Elementary school, middle school, high school classes. Students will use design thinking to create systems or objects to address one of three global challenges. Register for one or more sessions. Sessions are not required for registering your classes for a virtual experince.

Educator Preview: Data in Action

Wednesday, September 29 | 3 pm

Before signing their class up for a virtual experience, educators can take part in a Wednesday afternoon preview session where they will be able to meet Discovery Center staff, ask questions and watch a program demonstration. Each preview workshop qualifies for one Washington State Clock Hour. Numbers in the Wild: Critical Thinking on Data Storytelling is open to classes of all ages. Students will practice interpreting real-life, everyday data so they can critically engage with media. Register for one or more sessions. Sessions are not required to register for a virtual experience.

Educator Preview: COVID-19, Your Story

Wednesday, October 6 | 3 pm

Before signing their class up for a virtual experience, educators can take part in a Wednesday afternoon preview session where they will be able to meet Discovery Center staff, ask questions and watch a program demonstration. Each preview workshop qualifies for one Washington State Clock Hour. COVID-19, Your Story is suitable for all ages, as each student has a unique pandemic story to explore and express. Register for one or more sessions. Session not required for registration in a virtual experience.

Educator Preview: Global Goals, Local Action

Wednesday, October 13 | 3 pm

Before signing their class up for a virtual experience, educators can take part in a Wednesday afternoon preview session where they will be able to meet Discovery Center staff, ask questions and watch a program demonstration. Each preview workshop qualifies for one Washington State Clock Hour. Global Goals, Local Action is open to middle, high school, and college/adult groups and will focus on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals frame a discussion about global issues and youth leadership. Register for one or more sessions. Sessions are not required to register for a virtual experience.
