Fighting Disease
Around the World
OVERVIEW
Humanity is no stranger to diseases, but some are more well-known than others. In this workshop, we’ll highlight a few diseases the Gates Foundation works on and explore different approaches to “fighting disease” in general. Most of our time will be spent talking about the Neglected Tropical Diseases, which are generally less well-known despite affecting billions of individuals on the planet. We will also explore ways that young folks can make a difference on these topics.

WHAT TO EXPECT
This presentation works best if students are able to participate, which can be done with everyone on their own device or the presenter projected in a classroom with audio. We may utilize polls, the chat feature and other digital tools, depending on the setup.
We’ll introduce the topic through some slides and videos, but we’ll have plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion throughout.
