The Discovery Center hosted author and social-impact consultant Jesse Leon for Igniting Change, Rising Together: Nurturing Intersectional Belonging, Inclusion, and Healing For A Better World. Jesse, the son of indigenous working-class Mexican immigrants, shared his transformative journey—from the harsh realities of child sex exploitation and substance abuse to reclaiming his life and ultimately graduating from Harvard. This program celebrated Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month and World Mental Health Day and was presented in partnership with the Gates Foundation employee resource group Latinos in Philanthropy.
