Fighting Disease Around the World

Grades 6+

Humanity is no stranger to diseases, but not everyone is impacted equally across the world. In this workshop, we’ll highlight a few diseases the Gates Foundation works on and explore different approaches to “fighting disease” in general. Students will consider how simple objects like a permanent marker, a sticker, and 50 cents can help prevent and treat infectious diseases. We will also explore ways that young folks can make a difference on these topics.

We’ll divide students into groups of about 15. We encourage teachers to pre-divide their students, if possible.

SUBJECTS: SCIENCE | BIOLOGY | HEALTH | GLOBAL ISSUES

This school workshop can be arranged to be given virtually. Virtual tours generally last about 45 minutes and feature an educator engaging with the group either in our space or using slides—schedule by emailing [email protected]. We will do our best to find a time that works for your group and our education staff.
