School workshop topics

Design Thinking
Where do great ideas come from? And how can we make sure inventions and innovations work in the real world and take everyone’s needs into account?

Fighting Disease Around the World
Humanity is no stranger to diseases, but some are more well-known than others. In this workshop, we’ll highlight a few diseases the Gates Foundation works on and explore different approaches to “fighting disease” in general.

Global Goals, Local Action
Nearly 200 countries have signed on to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which aim for a better, healthier world by 2030. This experience challenges students to think about which goals feel most urgent to them and why.

How does the world feed itself?
How can we build a world without hunger? Students will consider the role of smallholder farmers as creative problem solvers feeding their families and communities.

What to do with all the Poo
Everyone in the world goes poo, it is just a part of life. Everyone deserves good sanitation, which can lead to increased education, health, and greater equality.
Can’t make it in person? Most of our school workshops can be arranged to be given virtually. Virtual tours generally last about 45 minutes and feature an educator engaging with the group either in our space or using slides. If you are interested in a virtual workshop, email us at [email protected]. We will do our best to find a time that works for your group and our education staff.
