Special exhibition tour: What to do with all the Poo?
Grades 6+
Everybody deserves a clean, safe toilet that supports their health! 3.6 billion people worldwide lack a toilet that safely manages their waste and even folks who do have access to safe and healthy sanitation use systems with challenges around sustainability and reliability.
In this school experience, we explore the global sanitation crisis, and why that matters to living a healthy and productive life. Then we’ll check out what new ideas are being used and other ideas that are still on the horizon—including waterless toilets that turn poo and pee into fertilizer and usable water! Students will explore the global issue of sanitation through games, hands-on demos, engaging discussions, and creative expression. This experience will explore our special exhibition, A Better Way to Go: Toilets and the Future of Sanitation.
We’ll divide students into groups of about 15. We encourage teachers to pre-divide their students, if possible. Please explore the educator resources including lessons and activities linked below to support additional student engagement with sanitation before or after your group’s visit.

Virtual school workshop
This school workshop can be arranged to be given virtually.
