Meet our speakers

David Baker, Director, Institute for Protein Design
David Baker is a Nobel Prize-winning scientist, professor of biochemistry, HHMI investigator, and director of the Institute for Protein Design at the University of Washington. His lab develops software for protein design and uses it to create molecules that address challenges in medicine, technology, and sustainability. Recent work includes the development of machine learning methods for generating functional proteins.
Bilal Mateen, MBBS, MPH, PhD, Chief AI Officer at PATH.
Dr. Mateen is responsible for developing and implementing PATH’s AI strategy while overseeing a number of programs focused on developing first-in-class AI-based solutions for addressing key healthcare challenges, and regulatory system strengthening to ensure adequate safeguards for this novel technology.


Matthew Rielly, Business Leader for Joint Ventures in Access and Obstetrics at Philips Ultrasound
Matt Rielly is currently the Ventures business Leader at Philips Ultrasound. He leads a venture organization focused on executing AI programs that open new markets through strategic external partnerships. His main goal is to advance innovative approaches in ultrasound technology, enhancing healthcare accessibility and aligning with Philips’ Access to Care strategy.
Rachel Sibande, Senior Program Officer for Artificial Intelligence at the Gates Foundation
Rachel Sibande serves as Senior Program Officer, Artificial Intelligence for Africa at the Gates Foundation. She leads on the Africa AI Scaling hubs initiative, curating investments and partnerships at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and development domains such as health, agriculture and education.
