Visitor FAQs

Do I have to wear a mask?
We are encouraging all staff and visitors to wear a face-covering while in our space; however, this will not be a requirement.

Do I need to show proof of vaccination?
Yes, we believe vaccination is one of the most effective tools to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, so we are requiring visitors ages 5 and up to show proof of vaccination or of a recent negative test. Vaccination cards or photos of your card are acceptable.  If you do not have your vaccination card, please bring documented proof of a negative COVID-19 test (a rapid antigen test or PCR test results from within 48 hours of your visit)

Do I need to check my belongings?
We encourage everyone to leave their bags at home. However, this is not always possible. Bags, backpacks, luggage, or other items larger than 11 x 17 are not allowed in the galleries and must be left in our bag drop area.

Are there physical distancing guidelines?
Physical distancing is recommended. Please pay attention to physical distance between you and other visitors and staff.

Do I need to reserve free tickets in advance?
Online reservations for free tickets are preferred. If you do not register in advance, you can register on-site.

Is there a time limit for visits?
Visitors are welcome to stay as long as they want once they have entered the galleries.

What sanitation protocols are in place?
Enhanced cleaning of high-touch surfaces will be conducted throughout the day; hand-sanitizer units are stationed throughout the building. Stylus pens will be provided for all high-touch interactives.

Will there be gallery tours?
Yes, we will be offering our drop-in guided tour at 2 pm, but staff are available all day to talk with you, show you around, and set up other engagements in our space. Scheduled groups tours are available during the summer on a limited basis for groups of fewer than 20. (link to group tour?)

Is there parking?
We do not have our own parking, however, there are several lots and garages nearby. We are also accessible via the Seattle Monorail, or bus routes 3 and 4. For more information see our getting here page below for directions and details.

Is there a code of conduct?
Please see our standards of respect, which we ask all visitors and staff to adhere to in order to create a safe and welcoming space for all.

Is your space accessible?
We are working every day to make the Discovery Center more accessible for all our visitors.  Please see our accessibility page for a list of what we can currently offer during your visit.

Will wheelchairs be available?
Wheelchairs are available upon request on a first come first served basis, and will be cleaned after every use.
