Visitor FAQs

Do I have to wear a mask?
Masks are not required, but we support visitors who choose to wear a mask while in our space. We do encourage visitors who are feeling unwell to stay home and plan their visit for another day.

Do I need to show proof of vaccination?
While we require all visitors who are eligible to have been vaccinated for COVID-19, we do not require proof upon entry.

Do I need to check my belongings?
We encourage everyone to leave their bags at home. However, this is not always possible. Bags, backpacks, luggage, or other items larger than 11 x 17 are not allowed in the galleries and must be left in our bag drop area.

Do I need to reserve free tickets in advance?
Online reservations for free tickets are recommended, but not required.

Is there a time limit for visits?
Visitors are welcome to stay as long as they want once they have entered the galleries.

What sanitation protocols are in place?
Enhanced cleaning of high-touch surfaces will be conducted throughout the day; hand-sanitizer units are stationed throughout the building.

Will there be gallery tours?
Yes. We offer our drop-in guided tour at 2 p.m., but staff are available all day to talk with you, show you around, and set up other engagements in our space. Scheduled tours for groups of fewer than 20 are available during the summer on a space-available basis. Learn more about group tours.

Is there parking?
There are several lots and garages nearby. We are also accessible via the Seattle Monorail or bus routes 3 and 4. For directions and details see our getting here page.

Is there a code of conduct?
Please see our standards of respect. We ask all visitors and staff to adhere to these standards in order to create a safe and welcoming space for all.

Is your space accessible?
We are working every day to make the Discovery Center more accessible for all our visitors.  Please see our accessibility page for a list of what we can currently offer during your visit.

Will wheelchairs be available?
Wheelchairs are available upon request on a first-come-first-served basis and will be cleaned after every use.
